Hello webcammers! We sure are enjoying watching the Fairbanks weather. We are headed there from Germany (Heidelberg) this June--can't wait! The wife, a Texas native, is a little apprehensive ;) ...but we'll certainly have an adventure! Really can't wait--wish we were there now! It looks so beautiful!

    Good Morning Arctic Cammers!

Another chilly one here in Jersey....only 24 this morning. Although I guess that's a bit warmer than your -13 in FB!

Simon, loved the link to the news stories on AK...they were really good! Thanks for sharing it.

    Waggintail, another great story!

Yukonjohn, did you have one for me???

    Have a great day all!

    queenofdart,
I typed in http://www.baufiimmo.de/webcam.php and it said NO RESULTS. What did I type wrong?

Also, work2travel, I love your attitude! You must be young to be so flexible! LOL

Yukonjohn, you must not have to work tomorrow. :-)) Glad you had a designated driver!

    Goodnight, again!

Thank y'all for your comments. Here in Florida it's about 3 a.m. and I'm trying to think...it would be about 11 p.m. there? I worked midnight to 8 for several years once and when I'd wake up, I'd be so confused and if I were y'all and it was still dark when I woke up, I'd just turn over and go back to sleep. LOL In the cam, there are places to plug your car in, right? Why aren't there some over where all the cars are...the party place? What do you guys pay for rent - 1 bedroom? Do you have alot of maintenance problems with cars in all that ice?

Marty, in the North Pole, do you help Santa load up every year? LOL

Jilly, don't you miss Alaska? Did you leave for work opportunities? I bet that was a real adjustment!

My friends and family love the sweltering heat of Florida. I was born and raised here but I hate the heat - and sweating! When it does get cold (for us), people make it so dadgum hot in the buildings that the germs spread and everybody gets sick. They want it 60 inside in the summer so they run the AC, then when it gets 60 outside, they turn the heat to 78. Go figure!

All of you have a great weekend and be careful on those icy roads. Wish I was there with you!

    Hi there fellow Camsters,

I have to tell you, I love coming to this site! It is such a great window for all of us to share a little bit about our lives and our love of this great state, Alaska. (Oh, and the part where you all share about where you live is pretty great too!)

I live in North Pole (yep, pass THE Santa Claus House on a daily basis)and consider myself fortunate to do so. Tonight, at my house, it is -20 and we are awaiting the arrival of our resident flying squirrel who comes almost nightly to feed on the bird fodder we put out. We've seen two at a time and they are quite comical to watch. I kid you not, they jump/fly HUGE distances to swoop in to eat!

kababe41: Thanks for sharing the story about the 98 yr old woman. It is so cool to see how far we've come in being able to virtually travel anywhere just by peeking in!

joannruth: I haven't been affected so much by the winter darkness, other than the urge to hibernate that is. I agree with both Jilly and work2travel; I stay quite wide awake during the long summer days. It's strange how I seem able to get by with A LOT less sleep during those short months.

That's it for now. I tend to ramble......

    Take care and be safe.

(Don't know why my username comes up as 'anonymous' but it is really "2BHAPY")

    ~ Marty

The streets are good at the temps we have been having!! Its a good thing seeing how many people are at the watering hole downtown tonight!! I went to the Comet Club earlier tonight, but had my girlfriend pick me up and cart me home. Whew, daydrinking, what a concept!! Hope all of you are having a super night!!

Short days just take some getting used to, but it is the Summer that throws me off. If you don't keep an eye on your watch it will be 11:30 PM before you know it. Even with black out curtins sleep deprivation can sneek up on you. Eack season has it's challenges, but would not trade this town for any place in the world!!!
